 The Mathematical Institute of the Faculty of Science at the University of Bonn invites applications for a tenured 

Full Professorship (W3) in Pure Mathematics

to be filled as soon as possible.

This professorship is of central importance for mathematics in Bonn and especially for the Mathematical Institute. This chair was held by Friedrich Hirzebruch and then by Werner Müller. Successful candidates (m/f/d) are expected to be internationally renowned in an area of pure mathematics, complementing and strengthening the areas represented by the existing research groups. 

The successful candidate will be member of the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, a Cluster of Excellence funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG), and expected to actively participate in the acquisition of further third party research funding.

Teaching is to be done in German and/or English in all phases of the study programs in mathematics. Therefore relevant experience in teaching is expected.  

Participation in academic administration is part of the duties.

Knowledge of German language  is not required. 

The general conditions of employment are according to § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen).
