The Mathematics Department at Seattle University invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position with expertise in data science beginning September 2021. We are looking for candidates who can be part of a core team of faculty growing our newly designed interdisciplinary MS in Data Science program, launching in the Fall of 2021. Preference will be given to those who show promise of being able to support a data science program that will be a leader in the ethical application of data science.

Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching data science courses at both the undergraduate and masters level; maintaining an active research program; supervising masters and undergraduate students in research projects; engaging in professional, university, and department service activities; and demonstrate a genuine desire to contribute to the mission of Seattle University.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in data science, statistics, biostatistics or closely related field, earned prior to employment commencement in Fall 2021; demonstrated experience with applications of data science; demonstrated excellence in teaching; and a commitment to the mission of Seattle University.

Additionally, please highlight any experience you have with interdisciplinary or consulting experience, experience supervising or mentoring student research, industry experience, and experience with ethical, legal, and social issues in data science.
