Pending budgetary approval, the Program of Mathematics and Statistics at Louisiana Tech University anticipates filling multiple tenure track positions, commencing September 1, 2021. Applicants should have research interests related to Cryptography, Number Theory, Applied Algebra, or Discrete Mathematics.

The Program of Mathematics and Statistics is housed in the College of Engineering and Science, whose vision is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College opened a new $40M integrated engineering and science education facility in November 2019 and is undertaking an aggressive recruiting campaign to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The Program of Mathematics and Statistics offers a B.S. and an M.S. degree in Mathematics and is a major participant in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Computational Analysis and Modeling. The successful candidate is expected to teach Mathematics in the College’s interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate curricula and to establish an externally-funded research program. Candidates must possess excellent teaching and research credentials as well as a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field by the start date. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Most research activity in the College is focused around multidisciplinary research centers. Candidates whose research areas align with the missions of the research centers are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to applicants whose research interests align with the Louisiana Tech Research Institute (LTRI) and Louisiana Tech Applied Research Corporation (LTARC), a 501(c)3 applied research contracting arm of LA Tech, to facilitate research at high classification levels. The overarching goals of LTRI are to enable Louisiana Tech to provide the US Air Force with next-door access to a dedicated and applied research center and support nuclear defense, cyber and intelligence-related research, and educational activities. These opportunities span from research areas including but not limited to modeling and simulation, data integration and analytics, knowledge management, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and cyber-physical systems. In partnership with the Cyber Innovation Center, a new 80,000 sqft LTRI building under construction in Bossier City, LA, will facilitate collaborations and research opportunities with the Department of Defense, industry, and community stakeholders.
