The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Saint Mary’s College is accepting applications for a tenure-track position to begin in August 2021. Requirements include a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science. The ideal candidate will be an applied mathematician with an emphasis in mathematical modeling and/or statistical applications with an expressed, preferably demonstrated, interest in teaching at the undergraduate level. This candidate will have the ability to assume a leadership role in teaching applied courses in areas such as math modeling, applied linear algebra, and/or actuarial science. An ability to teach at the graduate level in our Master of Science of Data Science program is an additional advantage to an applicant for this position. Duties beyond teaching include directing undergraduate research and senior comprehensive projects, academic advising, appropriate scholarly and professional activities, and college service. Opportunities exist for teaching and research collaborations across campus as well as in the community. Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary’s College is an all-women’s undergraduate institution with graduate programs for both men and women.
