Scope: The Department of Mathematics at Manhattan College seeks a committed teacher-scholar with a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2021. A candidate should give evidence of excellent and innovative teaching and demonstrate a commitment to continued scholarly and professional development. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach a broad range of topics in undergraduate and masters-level mathematics, to engage students in undergraduate research, and to mentor internships. Current department members have expertise in algebra, data analytics, data mining, differential equations, dynamical systems, game theory, graph theory, hyperbolic geometry, linear and non-linear optimization, logic, machine learning, mathematics education, operations research, probabilistic and statistical methods, and topology. Responsibilities: Faculty at Manhattan College are expected to teach five to seven courses per year, mentor and advise students, maintain an active scholarly program, and provide service to the department and college. The college is prepared to assist newly appointed faculty members in establishing or continuing a research program. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences. All areas of mathematics will be considered: pure & applied mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, data science, etc. Candidates will be evaluated on their academic background, communication skills, potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, potential for service to the college, and ability to bring new ideas and/or directions to the mathematics program.
