The Department of Mathematics at Clarkson University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position which starts on August 1, 2021. Hiring at the Assistant Professor level is the expectation, but other ranks may be considered. The Department expects to make multiple hires based on this applicant pool.

Clarkson expects candidates to excel as both teachers and researchers while making clear collegial contributions to the operation of the department. We seek exceptionally qualified applicants with expertise in applied statistics, applied data science, mathematical modeling, dynamical systems, biomathematics, financial mathematics, applied optimization, or as otherwise contributes to existing departmental strengths.

We expect the successful candidate to become an excellent teacher across a broad spectrum of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. One departmental goal in this hiring cycle is to grow our teaching capacity in the area of statistics or related data science application fields.

Essential Skills: Effective instructor of undergraduate and graduate courses in the disciplinary area. Effective undergraduate and graduate student research mentoring. Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative research program with Clarkson and external collaborators.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or a related scientific field by the position start date, a strong record of publication, and potential to obtain external research funding. ABD candidates candidates near completion will be considered with the expectation that the Ph.D. will be earned by/prior to Fall 2021.

Preferred qualifications include Ability to teach graduate courses related to applied statistics.
