Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics in The Eberly College of Science is seeking postdoctoral researchers to work on NSF and NIH-funded projects at the interface of neuroscience and mathematics. Applicants with a background in algebra, combinatorics, geometry, topology, or dynamical systems are encouraged to apply. Prior knowledge of neuroscience is not required, but a genuine interest in understanding how the brain works is essential. Programming experience is a plus.

The postdoc will engage in research on neural networks and neural coding, spanning both theory and applications. One project will involve modeling and analysis of zebrafish data in collaboration with the Sumbre Lab in Paris (, and another will involve collaboration with neuroscientists working in olfaction. This position may include light teaching, depending on preferences.

This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding. A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely-related field is required. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
