Full Professor (W3) in Applied Mathematics Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Science

We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of applied mathematics. The starting date is as soon as possible. Relevant research topics include numerical analysis, partial differential equations, high-dimensional ap-proximation, inverse problems, and optimization, but excellent applications from other areas of applied mathematics are explicitly welcome. The profile of the successful applicant should complement existing strengths within the department and drive new interdisciplinary cooperations. The professor-ship is intended to help shape core activities in the fields of simulation and data science, for example within the “JARA Center for Simulation and Data Science” or the profile area “Computational Science & Engineering.” A track record of successful acquisition of third party funding is required. Adequate participation in the teaching obligations of the Department of Mathematics is part of the duties of the professorship.

A doctoral degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant/an associate/a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
