A 2-year postdoctoral position in Geometry/Mathematical Physics is available in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sheffield, with expected start date in October 2021. This position is supported by the EPSRC-funded project “Mirror symmetry, quantum curves and integrable systems” (PI: Andrea Brini). This role is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen our research activity in the area of Algebraic Geometry and Mathematical Physics, with a special focus on the interplay between enumerative algebraic geometry, string theory, quantum topology, and integrable systems. There is no teaching load for this post.

Applicants should have a PhD by the start date, as well as a track record of research work in one or more of the following subjects: mirror symmetry, enumerative algebraic geometry, topological field and string theory, integrable systems, random matrices, or related areas of Mathematics and of Mathematical Physics, broadly construed. We encourage applications from groups traditionally under-represented in the mathematical sciences. The University of Sheffield is proud of its award-winning equality, diversity and inclusion action, with a vision to build a community that actively attracts, engages and develops talented individuals from many different backgrounds.

The deadline is 03 January 2021. Please note that applications are not accepted through MathJobs and must be submitted using the University of Sheffield online application form at https://tinyurl.com/yymw3xo6. Please indicate e-mail contacts of up to three references: letters should not be sent at this stage and will be requested directly for shortlisted candidates upon invitation to interview. It is anticipated that interviews and other selection action will be held in early January 2021.

Any informal enquiries can be directed to Andrea Brini at the e-mail address below.
