The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is inviting applications for the following position commencing 01 October 2021:

Academic research assistant (m/f/x)
Reference number W1808, salary in accordance with the German TV-L salary scale, pay grade: E13 TV-L, for the duration of 3 years with the possibility of extension for another 3 years, employment: 100 % of standard working time.

Workplace/Department: Department of Mathematics

Job requirements and responsibilities:
• Research in algebraic and complex geometry, in particular in birational geometry

Your academic qualifications:
• Doctoral degree / PhD in algebraic geometry

The successful candidate will also be expected to:
• have an above average research track record in algebraic geometry
• have expertise in birational geometry, in particular in the Minimal Model Program and/or applications of L2- methods in complex geometry and/or the geometry of K-trivial varieties
• contribute to the research of the department
• contribute to the teaching of the department (4 hours per week)

[TV-L = collective agreement on remuneration of public sector employees in the German Länder. The pay grade assigned to an employee depends on their professional qualifications and the number of years of service. Each pay grade is further subdivided into levels. Entry-level employees with no previous experience will initially be assigned a level 1 rating. After one year at level 1 of the E13 pay grade, an employee will move up to level 2. After a further two years, the employee will move to level 3, etc.]
