Our Mathematical Institute for Machine Learning and Data Science, which is currently being founded at the Faculty of Mathematics and Geography invites applications for the Chair of Geomatics and Geomathematics (W3) (endowed chair of the City of Ingolstadt) to be filled by October 1, 2021, initially for a limited period of 5 years. The University is making an effort to convert the position into a permanent professorship in the long term. Applicants should have an excellent international reputation in geomatics, geomathematics, or a related mathematical field related to the earth sciences through research and application. - Strengthening the scientific profile of the KU in the field of geomatics and geomathematics,
- Committed participation in and taking over of courses in mathematics, statistics or computer science,
- Participation in academic self-administration
- Acquisition of peer-reviewed third-party funding
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration
- Involvement in and Cooperation with the Mathematical Institute for Machine Learning and Data Science as well as with the Artificial Intelligence Network Ingolstadt gGmbH (AININ)

Previous focus areas of your work e.g. in: - Specializations in the fields of geomatics, geomathematics or geoinformatics,
- Machine learning solutions in the geosciences,
- Inverse problems, multiscale methods or modelling in the geosciences,
- Geomonitoring on the basis of mathematical-statistical methods for data evaluation,
- Sensor technology and methods for the acquisition, networking, analysis and visualization of spatial data and their integration into geographic information systems,
- Spatial reference systems and the modelling and analysis of spatial data.
