A 2 year post-doctoral position at the university of Rennes in dispersive and/or stochastic partial differential equations applied to wave turbulence coordinated by Erwan Faou. Funded by the Simons Collaboration on Wave turbulence. Deadline: April 30th 2021. Postdoctoral Associate - Simons Collaboration on Wave Turbulence INRIA, IRMAR, ENS Rennes Location Rennes, France.

Description The INRIA Project MINGuS located in the mathematics department of the University of Rennes 1 (IRMAR) and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Rennes (Campus de Ker Lann), has a postdoctoral position as part of the Simons Collaboration on Wave Turbulence. From the collaboration website, "This collaboration is the first attempt for a systematic coordinated study of Wave Turbulence Theory in a large-scale project, bringing together state-of-the-art skills in the areas of mathematics and physics, with theoretical, experimental, and numerical expertise. It is a joint effort of several groups of researchers who are ready to collectively collaborate, question all assumptions and approximations, and coordinate the progress on an interdisciplinary set of problems”. This position is a full time two years position. The postdoctoral associate will engage in mathmatical investigations under the main supervision of Erwan Faou. The research topics will be linked with wave or weak-turbulence phenomena (derivation of kinetic equations for stochastic PDEs, energy exchanges between low and high frequencies in dispersive PDEs, numerical investigations and numerical analysis). The postdoc should have the ability to work independently and as part of the local team and will be expected to contribute in related meetings and workshops.

Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in Mathematics with a research background in one or more of the following areas: Stochastic PDEs, dispersive PDEs and normal form, Numerical analysis of Hamiltonian PDEs. The starting date is September 1st 2021.
