ACQUISITIONS EDITOR MATHEMATICS (F/M/D)

As part of our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STM) division, our editorial department in Mathematics continuously develops the digital and print titles portfolio of first-class specialist literature. In your role, you will be responsible for the acquisition of new outstanding publication projects. The position on offer foresees an unlimited contract and is based in Boston. Remote work is possible as well.
Your tasks
- Strategic development and international alignment of our Mathematics portfolio in close coordination with our Vice President Publishing for STM
- Acquisition of a publication portfolio (books, book series, electronic resources) in Mathematics with a focus on the U.S. market
- Expansion and fostering of academic networks with authors, editors, societies, and research institutes
- Budget responsibility for project signings and output toward achieving economic objectives
- Representation of the department at international academic conferences
- Close collaboration with our editorial office, production, marketing, and sales teams
Your profile
- Ideally a Master’s degree or a PhD in Mathematics (pure or applied) or related subject
- Publishing experience and an according network
- Strong focus on acquisitions and a demonstrated interpersonal ability in relations with authors and editors
- An acquired knowledge of the market and a strong interest in different publishing forms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Native English speaker
