Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee The Vanderbilt Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics and Astronomy invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2021 or later. The position is affiliated with Vanderbilt University’s newly formed “Initiative for Gravity, Waves, and Fluids” – a collaborative, interdisciplinary venture. Appointment can be within the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics and Astronomy, or joint, depending on a candidate’s expertise. The Initiative for Gravity, Waves, and Fluids is a research-focused enterprise that cuts across traditional discipline boundaries by providing mathematicians, physicists, and astrophysicists with the resources and space to connect and collaborate on projects of outstanding scientific merit. It is anticipated that the Initiative will grow into a vibrant program, with addition of new members, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and substantial resources to support Initiative activities.
