Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a visiting position in the Department of Mathematics beginning Fall 2021. The teaching specialty is open, but preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching calculus in innovative ways, and the potential to teach upper-level courses in our curriculum. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. The successful candidate must possess or be close to completing a doctorate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics by July 1, 2021. This position may be renewed for up to 3 years based upon evidence of excellent teaching, documented needs of the department, and continued administrative approval.

Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is essential. We are eager to recruit candidates who have experience working with students and colleagues of diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. The teaching load is six courses per year, and most mathematics courses meet four hours per week. Visiting faculty have the opportunity to advise undergraduates in research and/or mathematical contests. The department has a strong culture of mentoring visiting faculty.

  •  teaching evaluations (based on direct observations by students and/or supervisors);
  •  graduate transcript(s) (official copies will be required prior to an interview)
