Professor of Data Science/Statistics Dept: Statistics Competitive Salary Permanent, Full-time Location: Coventry Ref: 30670-0121

This is an opportunity to join one of the world’s most prominent and research-active Departments of Statistics at the Professor level.

We are looking for a world-leading academic researcher in Data Science broadly understood to include applied, computational and theoretical Statistics and machine learning. The ideal candidate will be a leader in modern data science with an outstanding track record of research publications and in obtaining research funding. Other positive indicators include a track record of research impact outside of the area of academic dissemination. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in the academic life of the department and further develop the research environment in Data Science at Warwick.

The Department of Statistics is one of the most successful departments in the University of Warwick. Its research spans a broad range of areas in statistical methodology, computational statistics and machine learning, applied statistics and data science, theoretical and applied probability, finance and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its teaching programmes attract exceptional students at all levels. It comprises around 800 undergraduate students on degree courses in Data Science, Mathematics and Statistics and MORSE and 120 postgraduate students on the MSc Statistics, MSc Mathematical Finance and PhD degree streams. The department has close relations with the co-located Mathematics Institute and Department of Computer Science and with other departments such as Economics and the Warwick Business School, and is strongly engaged with the Alan Turing Institute in London.
