The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgetown University (https://mathstat.georgetown.edu/) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Applied Mathematics. The postdoc will have the flexibility to choose research projects and mentor(s) among the faculty members in the department. Possible research areas include:

· The analysis of hyperbolic equations and systems, in particular boundary value problems and their applications in inverse problems, boundary control problems or photo-acoustic tomography. Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics with a research background in Analysis of PDE.

· The analysis of systems of partial or ordinary differential equations, for example proving the existence of coherent structures (such as traveling waves) in PDE or related systems; the development, analysis and numerical solution of models of biological invasions incorporating adaptive evolution. Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics with a research background in PDE or related subdisciplines.

· The development and implementation of numerical algorithms to solve nonsmooth/nonconvex optimization problems in imaging and data processing. Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics/computer science/engineering with a research background in optimization and data analysis, as well as fluency in programming with Matlab and Python.
