The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Stephen F. Austin State University anticipates three tenure-track assistant professor positions beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mathematics, mathematics education, applied mathematics, or statistics; and have a strong commitment to quality teaching, research, and academic service. Additionally, mathematics education applicants must have the equivalent of a master's degree in mathematics to be considered for the position. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education consistent with the needs of the department, participating in curriculum development, advising students, performing research in an area of interest to the field, and providing service to the department, college, the university, and the profession. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers an undergraduate major in mathematics, minors in mathematics and applied statistics, and concentrations in data sciences, actuarial studies, and JacksTeach (SFA's STEM teacher preparation program). At the graduate level, our department offers master's degrees with majors in mathematical sciences (concentrations in mathematics or statistics) and school mathematics teaching.
