The School of Mathematics and Physics is part of the Faculty of Science at The University of Queensland. The Discipline of Mathematics is located in the School of Mathematics and Physics. It is the leading provider of tertiary mathematics and statistics education in Queensland. Undergraduate programs offered are BMath, BSc and BSc with Honours, BA and BA with Honours. Coursework degrees (MSc, MDataSc, MFinMath) and research degrees (MPhil and PhD) are offered at postgraduate level.
The Discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence and hosts a number of first-class research centres. Research is carried out at the cutting edge across a broad spectrum of areas in mathematics and statistics.

About This Opportunity
The School seeks to recruit a staff member with a developed research program in mathematics or statistics, and welcomes applications from candidates working in any area of mathematics or statistics. Given current strategic needs, candidates with strong established records in applied mathematics or statistics/mathematical data science are particularly encouraged to apply. The appointee will be required to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development, including service courses. In addition, the appointee will supervise Higher Degree by Research, postgraduate coursework and Honours students, conduct high-quality research and perform administrative, outreach and other activities associated with the School.

Our Ideal Candidate
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, statistics or a closely related discipline, with an established record of outstanding original research commensurate with career stage. They should have a strong publication record and potential or demonstrated ability to attract external grant funding. They will be an enthusiastic teacher, with the ability to teach courses and supervise projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including courses for non-specialist students. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an ability or potential to establish effective professional relationships and to represent and promote the academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies, as well as to contribute to internal and external service..

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic level B or C.
The full-time equivalent base salary for Level B will be in the range AUD$99,542 - $118,206, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range AUD$116,465 - $138,301.
The full-time equivalent base salary for Level C will be in the range AUD$121,939 - $140,603, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range AUD$142,669 - $164,506

Our Selection Process
Please note that Seminars and Interviews have been scheduled for the week commencing 19th April 2021. As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a seminar and a mock lecture to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Lecture topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
