UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK

Research Associate Dept: Warwick Medical School, Clinical Trials Unit £26,715 - £30,046 per annum Full-time, Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2024 Location: Coventry Ref: 103643-0221

The University of Warwick wishes to appoint a Research Associate, with a demonstrably high aptitude for quantitative methods and a strong interest in applying this aptitude to health economics, to an exciting new opportunity to develop a career in infectious disease health economics at one of the UK’s leading groups.

This opportunity has arisen due to the successful renewal of funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation; our aim is to perform research that informs strategic decision-making around plans for the elimination of sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis, HAT).

An international, multidisciplinary research consortium – “HAT Modelling and Economic Predictions for Policy (HAT MEPP)” –works with key partners in HAT-affected countries to develop regional, policy-ready models and produce predictive results that support decision-makers in the national control programmes.

The post holder will assist in the evaluation of future strategies for control and elimination of African sleeping sickness and will develop research projects focusing on health economics (decision making and resource allocation) in endemic countries in West and Central Africa.

We offer an intellectually stimulating, inter-disciplinary, and multi-institutional environment including an outstanding and supportive Health Economics, Mathematical Modelling and Statistics team within which the post holder will develop their career.

The candidate will also be encouraged and supported to register for a PhD by publication following employment at the University for 3 years, subject to a suitable quality of work delivered for this project.

Informal enquiries to: Professor Jason Madan (Professor of Health Economics – j.j.madan@warwick.ac.uk) or Dr Kat Rock (Lead PI HAT MEPP group - k.s.rock@warwick.ac.uk). Further information on the HAT MEPP Research group can be found on our website: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/zeeman_institute/new_research/combatting_disease/hat/hatmepp/

Closing date: 16 March 2021.
