The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at John Carroll University invites applications for a visiting faculty position in Mathematics for the 2021-2022 academic year. Full consideration will be given to applications that are complete by March 19, 2021, although applications will be accepted until the position is filled. 

The initial appointment will be for the 2021-2022 academic year, but the position may be renewable for the 2022-2023 academic year subject to departmental needs and administrative approval.  The teaching responsibility involves approximately 12 hours per semester, usually 3 to 4 courses. 

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers majors in Mathematics, Teaching Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Science with Healthcare Information Technology, and Data Science. We offer minors in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. We are a small, dynamic department, and as such, we offer the opportunity for faculty and students to explore trending areas and to experiment with new pedagogy, and encourage creativity in developing new classes and programs.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline is preferred, but candidates with an M.S. and a demonstrated record of effective teaching of mathematics are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellence in the teaching of Mathematics in a liberal arts setting, have the ability to teach both introductory and upper-level courses, and be committed to working closely with students and faculty from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds.  Candidates should also be committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in the field of Mathematics.
