The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Calgary invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date commencing on or after July 1, 2021. 

We encourage applications from candidates in all areas of applied mathematics and analysis, including dynamical systems, numerical analysis, differential equations or optimisation. We are particularly interested in those with a demonstrated interest in/expertise in/potential for interdisciplinary research in areas related to ‘the mathematics of planet earth’, and in potential collaborations with disciplines such as environmental/earth sciences, engineering, natural/biological sciences or geophysics.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a closely-related area. They will have a research program in applied mathematics or analysis, and an outstanding record of research in the form of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, awards, invited talks and other scholarly achievements, as appropriate for their career path and stage. A demonstrated record of or potential for attracting and sustaining peer-reviewed external funding is also required, as is a commitment to high-quality teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and graduate level.
