The Faculty of Education and Arts (FLU) educates the teachers of the future, from kindergarten to upper secondary school and in sports and the arts subjects. About the position There is currently a vacant permanent 100% position as a professor of Mathematics Didactics at Nord University, Faculty of Education and Arts, study location Bodø. This position is linked with the education and research community for primary and lower secondary teacher educatio.

If no applications are received from individual who are fully qualified for permanent employment in the position of professor, it may be appropriate to accept temporary employment in the position of professor for up to three years. The employment will become permanent if the applicant is found to be qualified as a professor by the end of the three-year period, and following a new assessment.

The place of employment for the position is in Bodø. The academic community at Nord University is divided over a number of campuses, so cooperation between academic staff at the faculty is important, regardless of geographical location.

The successful candidate may also be required to work at other campuses of Nord University.

Work assignments Teaching at all levels on our Master’s primary and lower secondary teacher training courses Academic supervision and follow-up of Master’s degree students studying for the Five-Year Master of Education (MaGLU) Academic supervision of PhD candidates on the faculty’s PhD programme Development of closer links between MaGLU and the PhD programme at the faculty Initiation and development of research projects together with academic colleagues Cooperation and dissemination of research results with national and international partners The person who is appointed will be required to participate in management and development of major research projects funded externally Assisting with efforts for further development of research cooperation with national and international partners Active participation in the development of the faculty’s professional community, and other communities with colleagues Mentoring for employees as part of their careers

Qualification requirements Appointment as professor

The position requires professor-level competence within Mathematics Didactics. The qualification requirement for professor is an academic level in accordance with international standards in the applicable subject area. A professor of mathematics with sufficient documented experience of didactic research and development work may be considered. Adequate professional educational competence is a requirement for this position. In addition to the basic skills in respect of the planning, implementation, evaluation and development of teaching and supervision which apply the position of an associate professor, applicants must provide documentary proof of the following: quality development in teaching and supervision, broad supervisory experience and joint professional development of educational quality.
