Position Description The Department of Mathematics at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level with the appointment to begin in August 2022. CSUF faculty are committed teacher-scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. Candidates for this position should have a solid theoretical and applied background in statistics and a passion for teaching. The successful candidate will contribute to the statistics community at Cal State Fullerton through teaching, research, professional activities, and service.

Statistics at CSU Fullerton The statistics faculty research areas include Bayesian statistics, statistical computing, spatial statistics, experimental design, and survival analysis. Faculty are active in application areas of neuroscience, geology, biostatistics, psychometrics, epidemiology, bioengineering, and finance. The Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics provides high-performance computing to support faculty research. The statistics undergraduate program includes courses in probability theory, stochastic processes, statistical modeling, and statistical learning. The M.S. in Statistics program serves the growing demand in the workforce for professionals with knowledge and training in data science and quantitative analysis. Moreover, the program prepares students interested in graduate studies at the Ph.D. level. The M.S. courses are conducted synchronously in person and via a two-way live stream on the Internet.
The Mathematics Department The Mathematics Department has 36 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers an undergraduate degree program with concentrations in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Teaching Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Applied Mathematics. The department also offers the following graduate degree programs: M.S. in Statistics, M.S. in Applied Mathematics and M.A. in Teaching Mathematics. Extra-curricular activity is an integral part of our department culture. We maintain a strong student research presence at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, and our Putnam Team regularly scores in the top quartile. We are considered a leader in cutting-edge and inclusive pedagogical practices. Our faculty often pursue and are awarded grants to fund efforts to support our students.
