The Mathematics Department at the University of Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Data Science, with an appointment beginning on July 1, 2022, or later. The Department encourages applications from candidates working in all areas of Data Science -- including (but not limited to) Data Representation and Transformation, Machine Learning, and Modeling -- and from theoretical statisticians with specialties related to big data and computational statistics. Applicants must present evidence of excellent accomplishments and promise in both research and teaching, as well as an ability to integrate their research with the three graduate programs in the Mathematics Department: Mathematics, Statistics, and AMSC (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computation).

This position offers significant possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the University of Maryland and the metropolitan DC area. Exceptional candidates will be considered for an appointment at a higher rank, including the Michael and Eugenia Brin E-nnovate Chair and the Clark Chair in Data Science (for more details see
