Job summary The Statistics Section of Imperial’s Department of Mathematics is undergoing significant expansion and seeks applications for multiple new Lectureships starting January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This expansion includes developing and deploying a new MSc programme that will be delivered entirely online. The Statistics Section at Imperial conducts internationally excellent research across a broad range of areas including serious interdisciplinary research, the development of statistical methodology aimed at solving significant applied problems and cutting edge statistical theory. Applicants with strong track records of excellence in research and teaching are encouraged to apply. Statistics is a live discipline so we welcome diverse applicants with experience with industrial, government or commercial collaboration. Duties and responsibilities You will work in the field of statistical science, broadly interpreted and will undertake a self-directed program of research and scholarship at a level commensurate with the current standards of international excellence in the Section. The role will involve teaching in the MSc Statistics (traditional and online) and Undergraduate Mathematics programmes, supervising Research and PhD students in addition to managing staff such as Research Associates. You will promote the reputation of the Statistics Section through scientific meetings, scholarship, and other outwardly-facing activities. Essential requirements

•Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Statistical Science or a closely related mathematical discipline •Research interests in some field of statistical science or statistical learning and, ideally, the development of this field in an area of application •Proven abilities to conduct a personal research programme at the highest level and to attract competitive research funding, and will be able to demonstrate strong leadership potential •Experience of collaborative research (desirable) •Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and an interest in online education •Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, particularly with researchers in non-mathematical disciplines.
