Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Taiwan University

Research Areas and Type of Position The Department of Mathematics of the National Taiwan University invites applications for one postdoctoral position in the domain of algebraic geometry or complex geometry, without teaching duties. The term of this position is two years, and may be extended for one more year. The starting date is flexible, preferably by the end of January 2022.

Research in Taipei As part of the National Taiwan University, the mathematical research environment in Taipei comprises the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) and the Academia Sinica. The association with NCTS and joint activities yield a steady stream of visitors, particularly with conferences or regular seminars (such as the Seminar of Algebraic Geometry in East Asia). There will also be travel support for academical visiting or conferences.

Salary Range and Expense The annual gross salary is adjustable, depending on the level of research quality and experience. According to the payment scheme of MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology), the payment ranges from NTD 800,000 to 1,000,000 and will be paid with 13.5 monthly salaries a year. The living expense in Taiwan is comparatively low, and the medical expense and insurance system are well-known affordable. After tax and insurance for health and labor, a rough estimate of the net salary would lie within NTD 760,000 and 950,000 (approximately, USD 27,300 to 34,200, or EUR 23,300 to 29,100; tax rates depend on the candidate’s personal situation).
