Faculty members in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Saskatchewan are seeking candidates for nomination for a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship with normal starting date September 1, 2022.

Successful candidates will have research interests in one of the following areas, with corresponding nominating faculty member in parentheses.

  • Advanced methodologies for complex data subject to mismeasurement, and/or missingness, and/or high-dimensionality (Liu);
  • Algebraic geometry, mirror symmetry, moduli spaces, quiver varieties, and/or quantum matter (Rayan);
  • Combinatorial and stochastic modelling with statistical physics and DNA topology applications (Soteros);
  • Quantum theory, harmonic and global analysis (Sowa);
  • Numerical analysis, scientific computing, high-performance computing, and software with application to large-scale hydrological flows, cardiac electrophysiology, plasma simulations, and quantum materials (Spiteri)
  • Integrable systems, peakon bearing equations, or Hermite-Padé approximations (Szmigielski);
  • Representation theory and its interactions with algebraic geometry, quantum groups, and mathematical physics (Weekes);
  • Representation theory of quantum groups, quantum symmetric pairs, and infinite-dimensional Lie algebras (Wendlandt);
  • Developing novel machine learning algorithms for large scale genomic data (Xing).

The position is for one year, and is renewable for a second year, contingent on satisfactory performance. The position is open to recent PhD graduates, or to current PhD students who expect to receive their degree prior to September 1, 2022. Successful candidates will be expected to teach two courses per year and to collaborate with their nominator and possibly other members of the Department. The salary for this position is 55000 CAD per year.
