The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management in partnership with the College of Engineering, College of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invite applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, beginning August 15, 2022. The Raikes School is a residential undergraduate honors program integrating the teaching of computing and management.

The position is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track, career-oriented position supporting the Raikes School. The initial appointment for this teaching-focused position is for a term of up to three years, with the opportunity for future multi-year renewals.

The new faculty member will teach a variety of data science courses for the Raikes School including probability and statistics, machine learning, and advanced methods in quantitative business. Support will be provided for new course development, as well as the faculty member’s professional development as needed.

Raikes School students take two years of Design Studio, an interdisciplinary team-based capstone experience in which junior and senior students develop technology-based products for sponsoring businesses and organizations. The new faculty member, in addition to course instruction, will lead several of these teams.

Minimum qualifications: PhD in a data science related discipline e.g., Computer science, Statistics, Industrial engineering, Mathematics, or Sociology. A demonstrated commitment to professional and new course development. Evidence of strong teaching ability.

Preferred qualifications: Multidisciplinary education Industry experience College teaching experience Project management experience to support the supervision of Raikes School Design Studio projects and teams

Salary is commensurate with experience relative to the home academic department at UNL.
