The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science, beginning in the fall of 2022.

A Ph.D. is required, preferably in computer science or mathematics, though otherwise strong applicants with degrees in closely related fields will be considered. A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a record of, or clear potential for, sustained, successful research, are also essential.

We have a strong preference for candidates who can immediately teach both intermediate and upper-level undergraduate courses in computer science (a particular need being compiler theory). While the precise area of specialization is open, expertise that complements existing departmental strengths will be a plus, as will be a willingness and ability to teach an occasional mathematics course. The teaching load is three courses per semester. For tenure and promotion, evidence of successful, ongoing research in some area of computer science or related mathematics will be expected. Other duties include student advising and participation in departmental activities.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, a current CV, graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable), along with statements outlining their current and projected research, their teaching experience and philosophy, and how they will contribute to the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. They should also supply three confidential letters of recommendation, at least one addressing teaching and one addressing research.

All materials should be submitted electronically to Questions should be directed to either of the co-chairs of the search committee, Drs. Alathea Jensen ( and Alex Wilce ( Applications received by January 3, 2022 will receive full consideration.
