The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks highly qualified candidates to fill Limited Term Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2022. Limited Term Assistant Professor positions are similar to a postdoctoral position in that they are non-tenure track and involve both teaching and research. Limited-term faculty may be renewed annually for a maximum of two (2) years. Any request for reappointment of limited- term faculty beyond the second year requires pre-approval by the Provost. Teaching duties are the equivalent of 3 four-hour semester long courses or 4 three-hour semester long courses per year, and will be aligned with the department’s small class initiative at the pre-calculus and calculus level, where class size is capped at 19 students. In addition, Limited Term Assistant Professors are expected to participate in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program. Applicants should show promise of moving toward excellence in conducting significant research in mathematics or a related area as well as moving toward the potential for high quality teaching in university mathematics classes. A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required. Applicants are encouraged to identify a member of the current faculty with whom their research aligns. Complete applications (including letters of recommendation) must be received by December 31, 2021 to ensure full consideration, but review will continue until the positions are filled. To apply, please submit a vita with a list of publications, a teaching statement, a research statement, a diversity and inclusion statement, and four letters of recommendation (one addressing the candidate’s teaching skills), through mathjobs.org. Candidates will also need to submit an application through UGAJobs, https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/229585 with a list of references who provided recommendation letters on mathjobs.org. Applicants should apply to this position through both MathJobs and UGAJobs; candidates who do not submit an application to UGAJobs cannot be considered for the position. The Mathematics Department, the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, its many units, and the University of Georgia are committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and students, and sustaining a work and learning environment that is inclusive. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ethnicity, age, genetic information, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status.
