We seek to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer on an Enhanced Research Pathway to join the Department of Mathematics as part of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science led by Professor Elaine Crooks.

Our BSc in Actuarial Science degree is accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), with graduates able to obtain up to six exemptions from IFoA professional examinations. A new postgraduate MSc in Actuarial Science has also recently been launched.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to contribute to teaching and further development of our Actuarial Science programmes and module portfolios and to pursue an excellent research agenda. Of particular interest is the enthusiasm and drive to help manage the Actuarial Science programme and assist in the exploration of module enhancements and embedding of areas such as Data Science and Machine Learning in our portfolio.

We welcome candidates with a PhD in a relevant subject area or a degree and relevant professional experience or qualification, a recognised teaching qualification that would lead to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or a commitment to achieve this, as well as evidence of the ability to deliver high quality teaching of specialized Actuarial Science modules from our actuarial portfolio. 

Being a Fellow/Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, evidence of engagement with the Actuarial professional community and IFoA as well as experience of working or engaging with the actuarial/insurance/finance industry are all desirable.
