Missouri University of Science and Technology Department of Mathematics and Statistics Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral position starting in August 2022. This position is for one year, renewable once for a maximum of two years, and is not a tenure-track position. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in mathematics or statistics, or in a related field, by August 2022. Candidates are expected to demonstrate exceptional research promise and a strong teaching record. Preference will be given to those applicants whose research focus on computational and data-enabled sciences in mathematics and statistics, such as machine learning, uncertainty quantification, data-enabled modeling, data assimilation, statistics, data science, etc. The desired qualifications include having a documented research record in an area that matches the research interests of a current faculty member or group of faculty members (see http://math.mst.edu/research/currentresearch/). In their cover letter, applicants should identify a faculty member or research group of interest for collaboration, and explain how their research can both benefit from, and enhance, our research endeavors.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics consists of 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 ranked non-tenure-track faculty. The research interests of the faculty range over many areas, including statistics, computational and applied mathematics, analysis and differential equations, and others. The department plays an important role on the engineering-focused campus of Missouri S&T, both in terms of interdisciplinary interactions with other departments and in the training of a large number of undergraduate students in fundamental areas such as calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and statistics. The department has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs, with about 40 graduate students (the majority being doctoral students) and nearly 100 undergraduate majors. The Ph.D. program has three emphasis areas: mathematics, computational and applied mathematics, and statistics.
