Epsilon Camp is a two-week residential summer program for highly gifted 7-11 year olds who are captivated by math. Math professors and professional mathematicians introduce campers to the rich world of higher mathematics, with topics ranging from methods of proof to hyperbolic geometry to visual group theory.

Epsilon Camp 2022 is being held from July 16 to July 31 at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

One faculty slot remains to be filled by a mathematician specializing in providing mathematics activities to students in the age range 7-8. The program aims to introduce campers to a wide variety of deep ideas that they will continue to see throughout their mathematical careers. Sample topics include:
  • Number theory: prime numbers, divisibility tests, arithmetic in different bases, and more.
  • Computational mathematics: recurrences for figurate numbers, Fibonacci numbers, generalizations, and binary information encoding.
  • Geometry: polygon angles, plane tilings, polyhedra, and fractals.
  • Counting: permutations and combinations, Pascal's triangle, inclusion-exclusion, and other counting methods.
Applicants should have interest and experience in working with children aged 7-8 with extreme intelligence and a love of mathematics. A mathematics degree is required for this position, but it need not be a Ph.D. degree. To be considered, you must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Faculty are paid an honorarium of $3000, provided room and board, and reimbursed for travel to and from camp.
