Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for one one-year term faculty position for Academic Year 2022-2023. Rank will depend on terminal degree, and if appropriate, stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 29, 2022. Pending budgetary approval, the position may be renewed for subsequent Academic Years. Review of submitted materials is guaranteed if the materials are received by June 20, 2022. The search will continue until the position is filled, or until August 8th, 2022, whichever comes first.

Applicants should hold a Master’s (initial rank: Instructor) or a PhD (initial rank: Professorial Lecturer) in mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Some teaching experience in service level statistics courses is preferred. The position will require the incumbent to teach 18-21 credits hours per Academic Year (equivalent to 3 courses per semester) of mathematics or statistics courses, mostly at the undergraduate level. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
