The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Mathematics at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2022.

The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper level courses in mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum of a MS in Mathematics; a PhD is preferred and will be required for tenure.

The Department values and supports innovative teaching and participation in undergraduate research, and seeks candidates with similar ideals. The faculty member will be an excellent communicator, have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching. They will participate in departmental and college activities and support the Department’s objectives of mentoring students, through a culture of scholarship, and service and outreach. The candidate will teach a 12 contact-hour load/semester.

Duty/Responsibility To perform this job successfully, an individual must: Design and facilitate learning experiences that enable student success and achieve student learning outcomes. Develop expectations and assess student learning outcomes. Effectively teach a wide range of subjects as qualified and assigned. Participate in development of curricula. Maintain an active creative agenda or scholarship. Provide service to the university, which may include: Academic advising Participate in program assessment activities Participate in departmental and college service, including admissions events Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Education- Master's Required Licenses/Certification- MS in mathematics required; PhD required for tenure. Required Skills- Applicants must have enthusiasm for teaching, intellectual vigor, strong human relations, and communication abilities.

Minimum of two years teaching experience, GTA experience is acceptable

Concord University is a small public, comprehensive institution with an enrollment of around 2000 students. The University is located in a scenic, small-town setting in the mountains of southern West Virginia with access to year-round outdoor recreation activities.

This is a full-time, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date in August 2022. Review of application materials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Selected applicants for the position will be asked to first participate in a phone or zoom interview. Candidates selected from this interview will then be invited for a physical or virtual campus visit. This visit will include a teaching demonstration by the candidate.
