At the Department of Applied Stochastics at the FernUniversität in Hagen we are looking for two
research assistants
to strengthen our team. Both positions are to be filled with 100% of the regular working hours. The positions are initially limited up to 3 years. After expiration, an extension for another 3 years is possible.
The positions can be filled as doctoral or postdoctoral positions.
Requirements PhD student: A university degree at Master level in mathematics or related fields (e.g. computer science) with above average grades and a strong interest in stochastics. Good German language skills or the will to acquire them in the course of the PhD are expected.
Requirements Postdoc: A successfully completed PhD in mathematics, preferably in stochastics, or related fields (e.g. computer science). In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Stochastic analysis, (random) dynamical systems, partial differential equations, machine learning, data science. Experience in university teaching, preferably in German, is an advantage but not a requirement. Good knowledge of German or the will to acquire it in a timely manner is expected. Experience in attracting external funding is an advantage.
