We currently have over 80 permanent academic staff and a commensurate number of postdocs and PhD students. We are one of the UK’s leading departments in the 2021 national Research Excellence Framework (together with Warwick Statistics), scoring highly in the quality of our research; its Impact and our Environment are outstanding. Our undergraduate programme is the equal of any other in the UK and this is reflected in the quality of our students. The university itself is consistently in the top 10 of UK university league tables and top 50 of international tables. Our staff work across the whole spectrum of mathematics. There is no formal division here between pure and applied maths; we actively support interaction across mathematical boundaries and encourage collaboration beyond the confines of the department and academia. The Regius Professorship in Mathematics was awarded to Warwick by the Queen in 2013.
