A post-doctoral fellowship (PDF) in Mathematics with emphasis in Matrix Analysis, Convex and Variational Analysis and Optimization is available in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The PDF will be part of an interdisciplinary research team lead by Dr. M. Cojocaru and will be co-advised by Dr. Cojocaru and Dr. Rajesh Pereira. The PDF will have a choice to work on developing new theoretical results that enhance our understanding of optimization techniques applied to quantum computation; and/or on (AI/ML) techniques applied to game theory and variational inequalities. This position is for 2 years (subject on performance) and includes a teaching component (up to 2 semester courses a year per each academic year of appointment). Starting date is January 1, 2023. PDF activities may include: · Writing peer-reviewed publications and reports on the topics above; · Conference, seminar and workshop participation; · Collaboration on more applied topics in adjacent research groups – leading to co-authorship of diverse papers – if desired. Requirements · PhD in mathematics or applied mathematics (optimization, game theory, functional and variational analysis, quantum information/computing) or a closely related discipline (Physics, Computer Science), with a strong interest in both theoretical and applied research. · Advanced programming expertise in at least one of R, Python; · Ability and desire to broaden their research horizons and areas · Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; · Proven solid record of teaching at undergraduate level. |
