The Department of Mathematics at Niagara University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2023. We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and who have an active and ongoing research program. A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field by the position start date is required. Applications are welcome from those specializing in any area of mathematics.

The teaching load is 18 credit hours per academic year (an average of 9 credit hours per semester), including both service courses such as calculus and introductory statistics and upper-level courses for majors. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in mentoring undergraduate students beyond the classroom, and applicants are encouraged to describe particular interests in this regard.

The Department of Mathematics, part of the College of Arts and Sciences, offers majors in mathematics and actuarial science and minors in mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science. Students in mathematics education programs take many of our upper-level courses, and we teach students from across the university in our service courses. In recent years, a number of our students have completed honors theses, conducted research with faculty, participated in REUs or internships, and/or presented at conferences.
