Research Associate Mathematical Finance Section, Department of Mathematics Faculty of Natural Sciences South Kensington Campus £43,093- 50,834 per annum* Fixed Term for 24 Months Ref: NAT01304

Start date: 1 April 2023 or soon thereafter

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London. The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council grant EP/W032643/1 'Distributed Quantum Computing and Applications' and will involve the development and analysis of quantum algorithms for quantitative finance.

Duties and Responsibilities The project will study quantum algorithms with applications to Finance. Two main directions are of interest: one involves quantum machine learning (i.e. quantum analogues of classical neural networks) and their properties (expressivity, universality, …) while the other focuses on quantum algorithms to solve high-dimensional (non-linear) PDEs.

The candidate is expected to run alongside Dr Jacquier on these topics and help with some of the activities run within the Mathematical Finance group at Imperial College London. The candidate will also more broadly be involved in the activities of the Imperial Centre for Quantum Engineering, Sci-ence and Technology.

Essential Requirements The essential requirements for this post are as follow: • Hold a PhD in Mathematics or equivalent level of professional qualification in Mathematics or Quantum Physics • A broad and strong background in numerical analysis, machine learning and / or Quantum Physics • Ability to carry out original research and to produce published research papers • Ability to identify, develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods • Ability to keep accurate records of research results

Further Information The position is fixed term for up to 24 months. The expected start date is 1 April 2023 or soon there-after.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assis-tant within the Level A salary range, £38,194- £41,388 per annum.
