POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics position to begin August 14, 2023. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. or ABD in mathematics or a closely related field, such as applied mathematics, mathematics education, or data science. The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison, KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour drive of major cities such as Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Lawrence, and Topeka as well as 35 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. Benedictine College has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2100 students and is a mission-centered academic community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential function is to teach courses in mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics. A typical course load is 12 credit hours per semester. Courses vary in number of credit hours, but the teaching load typically requires teaching 3-4 courses per semester. Field of specialization is open, although due to a rapidly growing engineering program, the course load will include one or more sections in the Calculus sequence from Pre-Calculus through Differential Equations each semester. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to teaching excellence and to engaging undergraduate students in research. Additional responsibilities include engagement in and service to the department, college, and community. The successful candidate will maintain a strong research agenda and broad teaching interests.
