The Physical Sciences Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago is accepting applications for an Instructional Professor (IP) (rank commensurate with experience) to be part of the Phoenix STEM Program team. Phoenix STEM is a new program whose goal is to promote the success of historically under-represented and first-generation students in STEM majors at the University of Chicago. The PSCD Phoenix STEM IP will be trained to teach collaborative learning workshops to help students succeed in Mathematics courses in the Mathematics major. Anticipated topics are Calculus, Linear Algebra, Analysis, Abstract Algebra, and upper-level topics all of these areas plus Geometry and Topology. The PSCD Phoenix STEM IP will also work with the Phoenix STEM team to develop resources for Phoenix STEM students and serve as an academic advisor for these students. This position reports to the Phoenix STEM program director and the Master of the Physical Sciences Collegiate Division.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics with at least 5 years of teaching experience. Candidates with knowledge and experience in inclusion and diversity in STEM are particularly encouraged to apply.
