The Mathematics Department at Seattle University invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in data science beginning September 2023. We are looking for candidates to be part of a core team of faculty growing our newly designed interdisciplinary MS in Data Science program, launched in the Fall of 2021.

Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching data science courses at both the masters and undergraduate levels; maintaining an active research program; supervising masters and undergraduate students in research projects; engaging in professional, university, and department service activities; and demonstrate a genuine desire to contribute to the mission of Seattle University.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in data science, statistics, biostatistics or closely related field, earned prior to employment commencement in Fall 2023; demonstrated experience with applications of data science; demonstrated excellence in teaching; and a commitment to the mission of Seattle University.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those who show promise of being able to support a data science program that will be a leader in the ethical application of data science.
