The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Sam Houston State University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics position, to begin in the Fall 2023 semester. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Mathematics. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to quality teaching and an active research agenda. Applicants conducting research in any area of mathematics are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

 Sam Houston State University is a comprehensive public institution of higher education located in historic Huntsville, 60 miles north of Houston. The university has an enrollment of about 21,000 students. In 2022, SHSU received new designations as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and as a High Research Activity Institution (R2 status) by the Carnegie Commission. 

 The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 28 tenured or tenure-track faculty in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. We offer BA, BS, MA and MS degrees in Mathematics, as well as MS degrees in Statistics, along with several minors at the undergraduate level. The department’s faculty is excited about undergraduate research and developing innovative teaching methods that encourage students to be actively engaged in the study of mathematics.
