Lecturer - Discrete Mathematics and Cryptology

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Department of Mathematics at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics (Discrete Mathematics), starting August 2023. The successful applicant is expected to teach undergraduate introductory courses in Discrete Mathematics and Cryptology. The successful applicant is expected to teach three to four classes per semester and contribute to the coordination of these classes. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in department, college, and university service. The successful candidate will establish and maintain accessible, inclusive, and equitable learning environments both for students and for supported instructors. There is no research expectation associated with this position.

Expectations of the position include but are not limited to: 
  1. Provide course coordination
  2. Design, develop, and deliver material using a range of methods and platforms
  3. Create course material, lesson plans, and curricula
  4. Contribute to the successful collaboration with colleagues with the department and across departments
Minimum qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree or higher in mathematics, math education, statistics or a closely related field
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience teaching discrete mathematics and cryptology
  • Experience using online tools such as an LMS (e.g., Canvas), homework tools (e.g., WeBWork), or others
