Professorial Lecturer or Instructor in Data Science American University, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Washington DC

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time teaching faculty position beginning Fall 2023. The appointment is a 9-month term (non-tenure track) position and will commence on August 28, 2023. Rank will depend on terminal degree, and if appropriate, stature in the field. Review of submitted materials is guaranteed if the application is received by March 31, 2023. The search will continue until the position is filled, or until August 13, 2023, whichever comes first.

The position will require the incumbents to teach 18-21 credits hours per year (equivalent to 3 courses per semester) of data science, mathematics, or statistics courses, with most of the teaching load anticipated in data science. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in the Department’s and University’s activities and service.

Qualifications Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (initial rank: Instructor) or a Ph.D. (initial rank: Professorial Lecturer) on or before August 28, 2023. Teaching experience in service level Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics courses is preferred.
