The Department of Mathematics at the University of Miami, in conjunction with the Departamento de Matemáticas at Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Cinvestav), is seeking outstanding candidates to fill a joint UM/Cinvestav Research Assistant Professorship in Mathematics beginning Fall 2018. We particularly invite candidates whose research interests align with areas of concentration within the Departments (http://www.math.miami.edu/directory/department-research/) (http://www.cinvestav.mx/es-mx/departamentos/matematicas/investigacion.aspx/) Appointment as a UM/Cinvestav Research Assistant Professor will be for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance. During this time the UM/Cinvestav Research Assistant Professor will alternate semesters between Miami and Mexico City. During the semesters in Miami s/he will teach two courses. There will be no formal teaching duties when in residence in Mexico City. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding research potential and have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Candidates with postdoctoral experience as well as new PhDs are welcome to apply. A PhD is required by the time the appointment begins. Fluency in English and Spanish is also required.
