Skoltech Center for Computational and Data-intensive Science and Engineering (CDISE) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a tentative starting date of May 2018 (later starting dates may be also considered). Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science or a related area. We are looking for a candidate with strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications. Candidates with substantial experience in Speech Recognition, Document Summarisation, Text Classification, Machine Translation and Question Answering are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output at the international level that demonstrates potential for independent sustainable research, innovation and teaching activities leading to peer reviewed publications in top-level international conferences and journals and excellence in teaching and innovation.

It is expected that the appointed candidates will take an active part in Skoltech and CDISE strategic activities in development of digital platforms for industrial, biomedical and urban applications of NLP.

Faculty duties include teaching at graduate level, advising student and innovation projects, and conducting application-oriented research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore, candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

CDISE members conduct cross-cutting interdisciplinary research driven by modern applications in the fields of computational science & engineering, data sciences and machine learning. CDISE has more than a dozen research groups which are among best groups in Russia and are competitive at the international level in their prospective areas. Currently, CDISE has 16 Professors, 45 researchers, and > 60 Ph.D. students. It powers the largest educational program at Skoltech – the IT program with two tracks: “Data Science” and “Computational Science and Engineering”.
