Assistant Professor Department of Mathematics The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics FCSM-3626 Position: The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2023. Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics by August 2023. Department needs include actuarial science, risk management, probability or statistics. Outstanding candidates in other mathematical fields matching faculty research interests will be given full consideration. Responsibilities: Faculty are assigned an instructional workload of five or six course units (three credit hours each) per academic year. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at all levels is essential. The successful candidate will establish a productive research program with a willingness to pursue external funding opportunities. The department is strongly committed to undergraduate research. Towson University: Towson University was founded in 1866, is recognized by U. S. News and World Reports as one of the top public universities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, is Baltimore's largest university, and is the largest public, comprehensive institution in the University of Maryland System. TU enrolls over 17,000 undergraduates and over 2,500 graduate students across six academic colleges (business, education, fine arts, health professions, liberal arts, science & mathematics), has over 920 full-time faculty, and offers more than 65 bachelor's, 45 master's, and 5 doctoral programs. The Department: The Department of Mathematics has 51 full-time faculty and over 150 math majors. We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, with concentrations in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Secondary Education, as well as three masters degrees in Actuarial Science and Predictive Analytics, Applied and Industrial Mathematics, and Secondary Education.
